The most important revolutionary in the industry has passed away today.
I didn't know much about him until I started working at the salon in Japan.
It was pretty much "Sassoon cut" salon, and I was lucky to have got a very strict training there.
When in London, I met lots of great stylists who had worked at Sassoon.
My first salon in Melbourne was at BIBA, renowned "Sassoon cut" salon.
Although my cutting style has gone through different stages, Sassoon is always with me. I'm sure every stylist would say the same thing.
At the end of the day, every single one of the clients, who's getting a haircut in a salon, owes it to this great man.
I remember reading an article, in which Mary Quant is saying something like, two things liberated women in the 20th century. One is contraceptive, and another is Vidal Sassoon. Very well said.
