This is a substantial collection of Australian artists who studied painting in France when Impressionist style was in full swing.
As usual, I joined a guided tour.
I've never heard of John Russell, but he is the main focus of this exhibition.
It's fascinating to hear that he had a close acquaintance with big names like, Monet, Van Gogh and Rodin.
Other artists include E. Phillips Fox, John Longstaff, Charles Conder....
By just looking at colours they applied, and the way they were put on canvas, I tried to learn a few things.

I also went to other galleries in Melbourne CBD.
Some exhibitions I liked.
'Skull Gully' by Martin Bell at Tolarno Galleries.
'Fly Rhythm' by Anne Scott Wilson at Arc One Gallery.
They are beautiful and sublime pinhole photography.
At Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.
Polish artist Monika Sosnowska.
Her large installations of steel and concrete building structure , squashed by a massive force, were influenced by the collapse of communist regime in her native Warsaw.
I liked them very much.
