Kitty Chung O'Kane, exhibition opening

Kitty is my client at Zucci Hairdressing in Ivanhoe.
Great artist and art teacher.

This solo exhibition 'Rust - What remains' at Manningham Art Gallery in Doncaster showcases the highest level of her artistic endeavour in many fields.
Paintings, mono type prints, textiles, ceramics, sculptures...

I wonder if there's anything she can't do.

Using rusty found objects as a primal motif, these outbursts of her creativity really inspire me a lot.

It was great to see many familiar faces at the gallery.

"The main discovery that I found along this experimental journey is one that the longer the rust is left forming on the object, the more beautiful the colour, the better the resulting marks, and the more crumble you can get from it to use in many other ways including pigment.
Yes, rust objects will eventually disintegrate but having a purposeful and functional object and having made marks and impressions on others.
The final disintegration is inevitable but well worth it.
This philosophy can be so well applied to our lives."
