Taking advice from Greg, I started to sharpen the front area of the wooden crate. I was worried that the painting looked very fuzzy, lacking in any sharp edges.
It's amazing that the moment I did this, a whole painting started to look better.
I also worked on the objects, particularly mandarines, again, creating some edges.
Another concern was a table. I was wondering if I had to redo a whole thing, but, Greg pointed out that by darkening the area close to a brick wall, it would be fine. And he showed me how it would change the look of it. Voila!
I'm reasonably happy with the painting, and I learned a lot from this one.
I'll start a new one next Monday.
Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
