Oil Painting lesson with Gregory Smith - Day3

Today is the last session for this monochromatic painting project.

Greg told me to focus really hard on tonal balance/difference between various subjects in the painting.

The first question should be, "Is it too dark or too light?". The second one is, "Is it too warm or too cool?"

And I should compare these tonal balance with not just adjacent subjects, but also others as well.

And I should recognise the anchor points at the early stage of the painting, that is, the lightest and the darkest area, and start building the tonal structures, using these two extreme tones.

I throughly enjoyed this project, I learned a lot.

I'm looking forward to the next painting.
