Oil Painting Sketch

Kate and I went to Mt Martha in Mornington Peninsula.
Unfortunately, it was a very cold and windy day, so we decided to paint roses inside the house.
The roses are from its beautiful garden.

I've found flowers very challenging and I don't think I did a good job on this one.
I should have painted a background much darker to bring the colours forward and make them much brighter.
Leaves need more tonal variations. Glass vase and water in it need more polish.

Again, it was a very good exercise and I should practise flowers more.
