Kate and I went to Yarra Bend Park in Fairfield.
We went to NMIT nursery to get some plants and set up easels across the road, overlooking city.
This is a very difficult subject, there are so many greens going on here, and capturing very subtle tonal difference turned out to be a big challenge.
I tried to use different combination of Cad Lemon, Ivory Black, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber and Burnt Sienna.
When I look at the painting now, I realise that these trees look too close. There should be more distance between the road at front and trees. Also, I can't see the depth of field of these trees. In another word, they all look too flat.
However, it really was a wonderful day here in Melbourne and we had a great time.
Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
