Kate and I went to Mornington to see the McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award, about an hour drive south-east of Melbourne.
It's a beautiful setting. The nominated works are thoughtfully displayed in the garden, so that we can take a walk and have a look at them one by one.
Matthew Harding's work 'Void' was actually my pick. It's a brilliantly balanced and shaped metal work.
We didn't have time to have a look at the current exhibition inside the building, unfortunately, and I'd love to come back again.
I'm reasonably happy with this one, especially its overall composition. However, I found it's extremely difficult to paint water in the lake. Its colour changed all the time. It was really a great study of reflection.
We spent about two hours painting in this beautiful park, and the weather was just gorgeous.
Another glorious autumn day here in Melbourne.
Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
