Plein Air Oil Painting

Kate and I went back to Le Page Homestead at Plenty Gorge Park in Hawkstowe.

We set up easels looking towards the entrance. This is where Greg painted last October when we had a Paint Out Day.

My main focus today was to capture light and dark. There was a time when trees cast very dark shadows down the hill, but, the trouble is the light changes all the time.

That's the challenge we face when we paint in the fields.

I'm reasonably happy with its contrast, but again, trees need more polish.

It was a beautiful autumn day here in Melbourne.
