I started today by working on a porcelain vase on the right. Greg told me not to do too much details, but make sure a spout is clearly defined because that's where our eyes are drawn to.
I tried to create a three dimensional illusion before putting in a flower painting on its body.
Greg showed me how to paint the top section, and that was very helpful. I was struggling to get its mouth shape right.
Then I worked on a vase on the left. The mouth was too fat, so I trimmed it by painting a background, and I put in a bit of shadow from a handle of the puss.
And I reworked a horse. Greg told me to keep it very loose.
I was thinking of spending one more session to polish this painting, but Greg told me that it's enough and leave it painterly as it is, otherwise I'll run the risk of making it too tight.
So, that's it. I'm very happy with this one. I call it "Puss 'n' Books".
Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
