We went to the opening at Victorian Artists Society.
Titled 'From Truth to Illusion', this is his 35th solo show and there are around 120 oil paintings. Still Life, landscape, portraits...
The breadth and quality of these paintings are very impressive.
It's a great privilege to see them in this iconic building, and I'm very grateful for having the opportunity to learn oil painting from him.
He made a moving speech. His thought about having a solo exhibition after all those years. A joy of seeing nature as patterns. A passion for teaching. And, of course, the importance of "putting darks" on canvas!
I bought a small painting, Kate's favourite.
There are many familiar faces in the gallery. We're all connected through the love of art.
