'Annica' at Arts House

I went to North Melbourne after work to see this production.
The venue in Town Hall often showcases high quality, avant-garde live performances.

Matthias Schack-Arnott and Eugene Ughetti created a mesmerising soundscape in this cosy studio space.
It was fascinating to watch the duo working on a gigantic turntable, churning out a dynamic range of sound, from whispering bells to deafening cacophony.

I'm not sure if it's their intention but I thought this production was an antithesis of digital technology in music making. I mean, they are demonstrating what they can do with their hands and basic music instruments in just one setting.... Rather than piling layers upon layers of sounds in computers. Well, that's just a thought...
Lighting was also very clever, I must add.

Apparently they're one of the leading percussionists in the country, and it clearly showed.
