The name Isabella Stewart Gardner was already very familiar to me. John Singer Sargent painted her portrait, but I didn't know there's an art museum in Boston showing her collection.
Nor did I know that in 1990 two men stole thirteen works of art valued at half a billion dollars. The biggest unresolved art robbery in history.
As I started this audiobook, I did lots of Internet search. The Museum just recently raised a reward from $5 million to $10 million. The circumstances surrounding this heist are intoxicatingly complex. It's a fascinating mystery in its own right.
Here, the author successfully came up with highly entertaining and captivating fiction based on this historical event.
I liked it a lot.
