I have a bad habit of reading reviews beforehand, trying to get some basic information on a production, particularly a big one.
There seemed some negative reviews online, not at all about its dancers or visual effects, but more about its emotional and ‘spiritual’ impact.
Not a bit of it for me !
I just loved this program. All dancers were top class. Even I could see that. Impeccable movements.
Very stylish choreography by Wayne McGregor, mesmerising stage design by Olafur Eliasson and brilliant music by Jamie xx. I liked costume design as well. Simple but elegant.
The only thing that bothered me was, towards the end, dancers were performing behind a gigantic stage set. I thought that would disconnect dancers from audience, dare I say, emotionally??
Well-deserved standing ovation concluded the evening. It was great. We were very privileged to have them here in Melbourne.
