I found this spot along Kyneton-Springhill Rd overlooking Lauriston Reservoir the last time I painted in this area, and always wanted to paint from here.
My friend Tim joined me soon after. It’s always nice to have a good company.
I really enjoyed this one. Although the light changed constantly, it was very pleasant.
I spent 2.5 hours.
Oil on canvas. 14x18 in.
Then we decided to have another go. There’re many good subjects to choose.
But, I thought I should do a tree study.
It’s a great idea to focus on a tree, trying to observe its tonal structure carefully. I enjoyed this one, too.
I spent 1.5 hours.
Oil on canvas. 8x11 in.
Weather was perfect. It’s been a long time since I had so much pleasure painting outdoors.
It was a great day.
